Environmental Monitoring

Environmental Monitoring

Reliability has a number of 'levels':

  • You need to be confident your design will provide a good test of your hypothesis;
  • You need to ensure that your samples are representative of the environment of concern;
  • You need to know how well your measurement(s) represent the samples you collect;
  • You need to understand the precision and any bias in your results;
  • You need to be sure that methods have been applied rigorously as specified;
  • You need to use appropriate statistical methods.

If you have achieved all these you can be confident you have a sound basis for decision-making. On-going QA/QC programs will provide a continuous review of the program to ensure that the data continues to be reliable.
